Cases where your name can be updated
In certain cases, a name change request may be reviewed, such as the correction of slight name errors or a change in surname due to marital status. To proceed, you’ll need to provide the required documents for verification that show your updated name.
Required Documents
A valid court affidavit
A newspaper publication reflecting the name change
A valid ID with the updated name (NIN, Voter’s Card, International Passport, or Driver’s License)
Your BVN number(with updated name)
You may also request a rearrangement of your existing names, as long as they remain the same as what is registered on your BVN.
Example:
If your name is FAITH MUHAMMAD TETULA, it can be rearranged to TETULA FAITH MUHAMMAD.
