Supported deposits type
Cleva supports different types of deposits into your account, depending on the source of the funds. Below are the categories of deposits you can receive on Cleva:
Freelance platforms: Payments from any freelance or payroll platform. E.g., from Upwork, PayPal, Payoneer, Deel, Rippling, Amazon, Etsy, Airbnb, and all such platforms.
Business payments: Payments from a business account to your Cleva account for services provided. E.g., from XYZ technologies to your Cleva account for services rendered.
From family: Payments from family with the same last name. E.g., from David Balogun to Tobi Balogun.
From yourself: Payments from yourself to your Cleva account. E.g., from Tobi Balogun Wise's account to Tobi Balogun Cleva's account.
Stablecoins: These are payments received via supported networks like USDT(TRON – TRC20), USDT (Ethereum – ERC20), and USDC (Solana). They are pegged at a minimum of $10 per deposit.
Third party deposits
Third party payments are payments you receive from a friend’s personal bank account. Although we also accept these payments, the amount supported is currently limited to $1,000. This means one can receive third-party payments from personal bank accounts up to $1,000 daily.
Note: Payments from your friend's PayPal, Western Union, Wise, Revolut, and other platform accounts are fully supported and do not need to be within $1,000 per day. However, payments you receive from a personal bank account. E.g., payments from Mary Kane's bank to Tobi Balogun's Cleva account must be within the limit of $1,000.
Transaction Limits on Cleva
The amount you can receive into your Cleva account depends on your account tier and the type of deposit. Deposit limits are applied on a daily basis.
Cleva currently offers three account tiers: Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3.Your account starts on Tier 1 (default), with the option to upgrade to Tier 2 and Tier 3 as your activity grows.

How to Upgrade Your Tier

Request a deposit limit upgrade.
Submit the required documents, e.g. valid proof of address, evidence of earnings such as invoice, employment letter etc
Once verification is complete, your new limit will be activated.
Frequently Asked Questions
If my payment is a business or freelance payment, could it still be flagged?
Yes. Deposits received on Cleva are reviewed to manage risk. We may flag a payment and need to reach out to you for more information. In this rare case, you'll receive an email, and you can provide context on the payment to aid the review process.
What is the limit for transfers from my Cleva account to my Nigerian account?
Your transfer limit depends on your Account Tier. Kindly find your limits within your app when you log in and go to Settings > Transaction Limit.
Why could my payment be rejected?
There are a number of reasons payments could be rejected by our bank partner. For instance,
Payment details provided on the receipt are different from information on your account, e.g., name, account number, etc.
The sender of the funds recalled the transaction as unauthorized.
The deposit is above the accepted limit.
Lack of clarity as to the relationship between the sender and the beneficiary.
